After breaking up with her girlfriend Maxine, Shirin leaves their apartment and tries to reorganise her life in Brooklyn. She finds a room, takes a job teaching filmmaking and revisits the relationship in fragments, while continuing to hide her bisexuality from her Iranian parents. Each attempt to move forward brings her back to the gap between the life she describes to her family and the one she is still learning how to live.
