Maggie works at a queer bookstore and has only recently moved into her own apartment when she meets Kim, an artist travelling through the city. Their relationship begins just before Maggie’s mother and younger brother arrive needing a place to stay. With the apartment suddenly crowded and the bookstore under pressure over the material it sells, Maggie tries to manage a new romance, a family secret and a community dispute at the same time.
