Megan is a high-school cheerleader whose family and friends decide that she is a lesbian before she has reached that conclusion herself. They send her to True Directions, a residential programme where teenagers are assigned lessons in heterosexuality and conventional gender roles. Living with other queer young people turns the programme into the place where Megan begins examining the future everyone else has planned for her.
