Atafeh and Shireen are close friends in Tehran who share music, parties and a relationship they can only acknowledge in private. Atafeh’s brother Mehran returns home after treatment and begins restoring his place in the family through religious observance and increasing control over the household. As he watches the two women more closely, their plans for freedom become tied to the same family and state systems they have been trying to avoid.
