Max is a young lesbian in Chicago whose friends believe she has been single for too long. Through their social circle she meets Ely, and the possibility of a relationship develops through conversations, interruptions and advice from people who already have opinions about both women. The story follows dating as a community process in which attraction is rarely private and everyone arrives with a history.
