High Art

1998 · Lisa Cholodenko · USA · Drama · 101 min

Syd works at a photography magazine and is trying to move beyond an assistant role when a leak in her apartment leads her upstairs to Lucy Berliner, a photographer who has withdrawn from the art world. Syd sees a chance to bring Lucy’s work back into public view, while Lucy’s household and relationship with Greta complicate the professional arrangement. As collaboration and attraction develop together, the magazine’s interest in Lucy creates opportunities that do not carry the same cost for everyone involved.
