Orlando begins life as a young nobleman at the court of Elizabeth I and receives an estate on the condition that he never grow old. Across several centuries, Orlando moves through love affairs, diplomacy, literature and changes in property law before waking one day in a woman’s body. The journey continues through new social restrictions and new forms of freedom as the world changes around a person whose identity does not remain fixed.
