Wil is a surgeon in New York who keeps her relationships with women separate from her traditional Chinese American family. Her mother arrives at Wil’s apartment pregnant and refuses to identify the father, creating a scandal within their community. At the same time, Wil begins a relationship with Vivian, a dancer who is less willing to remain hidden, leaving mother and daughter to negotiate different secrets under the same roof.
