At the court of Queen Anne, Sarah Churchill uses her personal access to the queen to influence government and protect her own position. Her cousin Abigail arrives seeking employment and discovers that closeness to Anne can provide security and political power. The two women begin competing for the queen’s attention, turning private affection and court business into parts of the same struggle.
