Randy is a working-class teenager living with her lesbian aunt when she meets Evie, a popular student from a wealthier Black family. Their friendship develops into a relationship that crosses school groups, family expectations and differences in money. As other people begin to notice, the girls try to protect the time they have together without fully understanding the pressures each brings from home.
