After Cameron is discovered with another girl, her guardians send her to a Christian conversion programme. Staff members require the teenagers to identify supposed causes for their sexuality and to practise approved forms of gender and faith. Cameron forms friendships with other residents who understand how the programme works, even when they do not accept what it says about them.
